To punish crimes of extortion and protect rights in public and private property, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China and the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China, several issues concerning the application of law in the handling of criminal cases of extortion are hereby interpreted as follows: | |
为依法惩治敲诈勒索犯罪，保护公私财产权利，根据《中华人民共和国刑法》、《中华人民共和国刑事诉讼法》的有关规定，现就办理敲诈勒索刑事案件适用法律的若干问题解释如下： |

Article 1 If the value of public and private property extorted is in the range of 2,000 yuan to 5,000 yuan or more, 30,000 yuan to 100,000 yuan or more, or 300,000 yuan to 500,000 yuan or more, it shall be determined as a “large amount,” “huge amount,” or “particularly huge amount” under Article 274 of the Criminal Law.
