| (1) Basic Facts | | （一）基本案情 |
In September 1998, defendant, Zhu Chaochun and the victim Liu Yi (female, 31 years old at the time of death) got married. In November 2007, they got divorced by agreement, but they still lived together in the name of husband and wife. From 2006 to the date when the crime was committed, Zhu Chaochun frequently beat up Liu Yi due to love-related problems and household chores, causing Liu Yi's injuries for multiple times. On July 11, 2011, Zhu Chaochun came into conflicts with Liu Yi again due to problems in the education of their daughter and his doubt that the girl was not his child. Zhu Chaochun whipped Liu Yi with a belt, bringing about Liu Yi's suicide with a knife, and he immediately sent Liu Yi to hospital for rescue. It was identified that there were multiple contused wounds on the body surface of Liu Yi and Liu Yi died despite the treatment due to the stabling in her left chest with a sharp instrument, the cardiac rupture, and the massive bleeding. On the same day, Zhu Chaochun surrendered himself.
