For the purposes of accurately grasping the criminal policy of combining leniency and severity, and strictly implementing the Provisions of the Supreme People's Court on the Specific Application of Law in Handling Commutation and Parole Cases, the following supplementary provisions on commutation and parole applicable to convicts who were originally state functionaries and have been sentenced for the crimes such as embezzlement and taking of bribes in accordance with Chapter VIII of the Specific Provisions of the Criminal Law after the Amendment (IX) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China came into force are hereby issued:
