| At the invitation of Foreign Minister Paskal Milo of the Republic of Albania, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan of the People?s Republic of China paid an official visit to Albania from Dec. 4 to 5, 2000. During the visit, the two foreign ministers held talks and exchanged views on bilateral relations and international issues of shared interest. The talks were carried out in an atmosphere of friendliness and mutual trust. | | 应阿尔巴尼亚共和国外交部长帕斯卡尔·米洛的邀请，中华人民共和国外交部长唐家璇于2000年12月4日至5日对阿尔巴尼亚进行了正式访问。访问期间，两国外长举行了会谈，就双边关系和双方共同关心的国际问题交换了意见。会谈在亲切友好和相互信任的气氛中进行。 |
| During the visit, President Rexhep Meidani, Prime Minister Ilir Meta and Speaker Skender Gjinushi of the People?s Assembly of the Republic of Albania met with Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan respectively. During the meetings, Foreign Minister Tang conveyed the cordial greetings from President Jiang Zemin, Chairman Li Peng of the Standing Committee of NPC and Premier Zhu Rongji of the State Council to their Albanian counterparts. Foreign Minister Tang also forwarded a letter from Chairman Li Peng to Speaker Gjinushi, in which Chairman Li invited Speaker Gjinushi to visit China next year. | | 访问期间，阿尔巴尼亚共和国总统雷杰普·迈达尼、总理伊利尔·梅塔、议长斯坎德尔·吉努什分别会见了唐家璇外长。会见中，中国外长唐家璇向阿尔巴尼亚领导人转达了中华人民共和国主席江泽民、全国人民代表大会常务委员会委员长李鹏、国务院总理朱基的亲切问候，转交了李鹏委员长致吉努什议长的信。李鹏委员长在信中邀请吉努什议长明年访华。 |
During the talks, both sides expressed satisfaction over the further development of bilateral relations in recent years. They stated that they will, as always, continue to develop China-Albania relations on the basis of such established principles as equality, cooperation, sovereignty, mutual respect and non-interference in each other?s internal affairs. They also agreed to expand their common ground and maintained that differences between the two countries will not become obstacles to the further development of bilateral relations.
