The higher people's courts of all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government; the Military Court of the People's Liberation Army; and the Production and Construction Corps Branch of the Higher People's Court of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region: 各省、自治区、直辖市高级人民法院,解放军军事法院,新疆维吾尔自治区高级人民法院生产建设兵团分院:
In order to standardize the use of case number in multiple judicial documents of the same case for easy differentiation and identification and satisfaction of the actual work needs of trial and enforcement, you are hereby notified of the relevant matters as follows: 为规范案号在同一案件多个裁判文书上的使用,便于区分、识别,以满足审判执行工作实际需要,现就有关事项通知如下:
I. The case number is unique for the same case and people's courts at all levels shall standardize the use of case number in judicial documents of the same case. For multiple judicial documents of the same type for the same case, the first judicial document shall directly use the case number and such suffixes as “(1)” and “(2)” … may be added to the case number for the second and third … judicial documents for differentiation.   一、同一案件的案号具有唯一性,各级法院应规范案号在案件裁判文书上的使用。对同一案件出现的多个同类裁判文书,首份裁判文书直接使用案号,第二份开始可在案号后缀“之一”“之二”…,以示区别。
II. For multiple judicial documents of various types for the same case, it is unnecessary to differentiate them by using the aforesaid method of adding suffixes to the case number.   二、在同一案件的多个不同类型裁判文书之间,无需通过上述案号后缀方法进行区分。
III. For multiple judicial documents of various types for the same case, where there are more than two judicial documents of each type, the judicial documents of each type may, from the second judicial document, adopt the aforesaid method of adding suffixes to the case number for differentiation.   三、同一案件不同类型的裁判文书均出现两个以上时,每一类型裁判文书从其第二份开始均可采用上述案号后缀方法加以区分。
IV. The types of the aforesaid judicial documents include judgments, rulings, mediation documents, written decisions, and written notices.
