| To promote the joint development of the capital markets of the mainland and Hong Kong, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (“CSRC”) and the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (“SFC”) have decided to approve the official launch of the pilot program of an interconnection mechanism for transactions in the Shanghai and Hong Kong stock markets (hereinafter referred to as the “Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect”) by the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited, and Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited. Stock transactions under the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect will commerce on November 17, 2014. I. Since the CSRC and the SFC issued the Joint Announcement on April 10 this year, the securities regulators of both sides have closely cooperated with each other in making preparations for the launch of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect. At present, the relevant business rules, operating plans and regulatory arrangements in respect of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect trading, settlement and quota management have all been finalized, technical systems are ready, good results have been achieved in market cultivation and investor education, and pertinent emergency response plans have been prepared.
