| At the invitation of Foreign Minister Martonyi Janos of the Republic of Hungary, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan of the People's Republic of China paid an official visit to the Republic of Hungary from Dec. 5 to 7, 2000. | | 应匈牙利共和国外交部长毛尔多尼·亚诺什的邀请，中华人民共和国外交部长唐家璇于二○○○年十二月五日至七日对匈牙利共和国进行了正式访问。 |
| The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international issues of mutual concern in a friendly and down-to-earth manner. They expressed satisfaction over the results of the visit and were convinced that the visit will further promote the development of China-Hungary friendly relations and cooperation oriented towards the 21st century. | | 双方在诚挚、亲切的气氛中就加强双边关系和共同关心的国际问题深入地交换了意见。双方对访问结果表示满意，并相信这次访问将推动面向二十一世纪的中匈友好合作关系的发展。 |
| In light of this and in order to further develop the friendly relations and deepen the mutual understanding between the two peoples, they reached the following consensus on behalf of their respective governments: | | 鉴此，为进一步发展两国人民之间的友好关系和加深相互理解，双方代表各自政府达成以下共识： |
| 1. Both sides spoke highly the historical relations and friendly cooperation between the two countries and expressed satisfaction over the development of bilateral relations in recent years. | | 一、双方高度评价两国的历史关系和友好合作，并对近年来双边关系的发展表示满意。 |
| 2. Both sides agreed that international situations provide favorable conditions for the expanding and deepening of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. The cooperation between the two countries in the United Nations and in other international organizations conduces to the peace, security and stability of Asia-Europe region and the wider world. They stand ready to continue their consultations and cooperation in international forums on such major global issues as curbing the proliferation of weapons of massive destruction, promoting the cause of economic and social development, environmental protection, peace and sustainable utilization of natural resources. | | 二、双方一致认为，国际形势为扩大和深化双边及多边合作提供了有利条件。两国在联合国和其他国际组织中的合作有助于维护国际及亚欧地区的和平、安全与稳定。双方愿在国际论坛中为解决诸如制止大规模杀伤性武器扩散、推动经济与社会发展事业、环境保护、和平与可持续利用自然资源等具有重大意义的全球性问题继续进行磋商与合作。 |
| 3. Both sides reiterated that the principled basis and political framework of bilateral relations formed in recent years conforms to the fundamental interests of both peoples. To develop bilateral cooperation oriented towards the 21st century within the framework of constructive partnership in accordance with the universally established principles of international law, norms governing international relations and purpose and principles of UN Charter and on the basis of mutual respect, equality, non-interference in each other's affairs is the common goal of both the government of the People's Republic of China and the government of the Republic of Hungary. | | 三、双方重申，近些年中形成的两国关系的原则基础和政治框架符合两国人民的根本利益。以公认的国际法原则和国际关系准则、《联合国宪章》的宗旨和原则以及相互尊重、平等互利、互不干涉内政等原则为基础，在真诚的建设性伙伴关系框架内发展二十一世纪的双边合作，是中华人民共和国政府和匈牙利共和国政府的共同目标。 |
Both sides reiterated their respect for the choice by their own people of choosing their own development path in light of their own national conditions and on a voluntary basis. They acknowledged that the two countries have different social, economic, political situations and different value systems and have different views on such questions as human rights. However, there were of the view that these differences should not affect the development of bilateral relations. They hoped that disputes can be resolved through candid and sincere talks. They believed that the bases for dialogue are equality, mutual respect and their common interests in developing bilateral relations.
