| Since this Department issued the Notice on Appropriately Handling Cases Involving Applications for Approval of Extended Custody in Criminal Investigation by the Departments of Criminal Investigation Supervision of the People's Procuratorates at the Provincial Level on September 5, 2001, the people's procuratorates at all levels have conscientiously implemented the spirit of that Notice, and the handling of such cases as required by that Notice has been generally to our satisfaction. In the meantime, there are certain general issues reported such as the difficulty in understanding “cases which are complex” as mentioned in Article 124 of the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China. For purposes of further regulating the handling of cases involving applications for approval of extended custody in criminal investigation, strengthening the guidance of investigative work, and effectively conducting criminal investigation supervision and supervision after arrest, with the consent of the leaders of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the following opinions are hereby offered for reference in implementation nationwide: | | 我厅于2001年9月5日下发《关于各省级人民检察院侦查监督部门规范办理提请批准延长侦查羁押期限案件的通知》后，各级人民检察院认真贯彻执行通知精神，按照通知的要求办理延长侦查羁押期限案件中，执行情况总体上是好的。同时，各地普遍反映《刑事诉讼法》第一百二十四条中关于“案情复杂”的规定不好把握等问题。为了进一步规范办理提请批准延长侦查羁押期限案件的工作，加强对侦查工作的引导，切实做好侦查监督、捕后监督的工作，经高检院领导同意，现提出以下意见，请各地参照执行： |
