Both sides agreed that the “Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan” bears important historical significance and has laid a strong and solid foundation for the long term and stable development of relations between the two countries. IV. The Afghanistan side expressed its will of advancing regional peace and becoming a bridge for economic and cultural exchanges in the region. The Chinese side expressed appreciation toward that, and emphasized China's adherence to the principle of not intervening in internal affairs, the respect for the independence of Afghanistan, sovereignty and territorial integrity, the respect for the Afghanistan people's choice of their own development path in the light of their respective national conditions, the support for the process of “reconciliation and reintegration” in Afghanistan and the belief that Afghanistan will surely realize peace, stability and development soon.
