| The Government of the People's Republic of China and The Government of the Republic of Croatia (hereinafter referred to as "the Contracting Parties"), desiring to develop friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries in the fields of culture, education, sports and journalism, and in accordance with the Agreement signed on June 7th, 1993 in Beijing between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Croatia on Co-operation in the fields of Culture and Education, have agreed to conclude the following Programme of Co-operation in the Fields of Culture and Education for the years 1998, 1999 and 2000. | | 中华人民共和国政府和克罗地亚共和国政府（以下简称“双方”），本着发展两国人民之间在文化、教育、体育和新闻领域的友好关系的愿望，根据1993年6月7日在北京签署的《中华人民共和国政府和克罗地亚共和国政府文化教育合作协定》，就1998年、1999年和2000年文化教育合作执行计划达成如下协议: |

| Article 1 The Contracting Parties shall support direct co-operation between the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. | | 第一条 双方支持中国科学院和中国社会科学院同克罗地亚科学院之间的直接合作。 |

| Article 2 The Contracting Parties shall support the exchange of exhibitions of excellent artistic level. Themes of the exhibitions, time of presentation and number of the accompanying persons shall be determined by a subsequent agreement. | | 第二条 双方将支持互换高水平的艺术展览。展览内容和展期及随展人数将另行商定。 |

| a) The Republic of Croatia expresses a desire to present the exhibition "Modern Croatian Graphics" in Beijing and in some other towns in the People's Republic of China in 1999. | | 1.克罗地亚共和国希望于1999年在北京和在华其它城市举办“克罗地亚现代版画展”。 |

| b) The Republic of Croatia expresses a desire to present the exhibition "Thousand years of Croatian Sculpture" in Beijing in 2000, which shall be realized according to a special contract. | | 2.克罗地亚共和国希望于2000年在北京举办“克罗地亚雕塑一千年”展,该展将在另签合同的基础上付诸实施。 |

| a) The Republic of Croatia shall invite Chinese artists to participate in the International Biennial of Drawing in Rijeka. | Article 5 The Contracting Parties shall support direct co-operation between Croatian and Chinese institutions for the protection and preservation of cultural heritage. | | 第五条 双方支持中克两国文物保护部门之间的直接合作。 |
The Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia expresses a desire to establish co-operation with the Bureau of Cultural Relics of the People's Republic of China for the purpose of exchange of experts and information on the state of cultural heritage in both countries. | |
克罗地亚共和国文化部文保局希望同中华人民共和国国家文物局在互换两国文物专家和交流两国文物现状信息方面建立合作。 |
The number of experts and duration of their visits shall be determined by a subsequent agreement. | |

| The People's Republic of China shall invite The Zagreb Quarter for a tour in 1999. | | 2.中华人民共和国于1999年邀请萨格勒布四重奏组访华。 |

| a) The Republic of Croatia shall invite a Chinese folk song and dance ensemble, comprising up to 30 persons, to participate in the Zagreb International Folk Art Festival in 1999. | | 1.克罗地亚共和国将于1999年邀请中国民间艺术团30人参加萨格勒布国际民间艺术节。 |

| b) The People's Republic of China shall invite a Croatian folk song and dance ensemble, comprising up to 30 persons, for a tour in China during the second half of the year of 1998. | | 2.中华人民共和国将于1998年下半年邀请克罗地亚民间艺术团30人访问中国。 |

| a) The Republic of Croatia shall invite a Chinese puppet theatre ensemble, comprising up to 20 persons, to take part in the Zagreb International Puppet Festival in 2000. | | 1.克罗地亚共和国将于2000年邀请中国木偶团20人参加萨格勒布国际木偶节。 |
| |
|
| b) The People's Republic of China shall invite a Croatian puppet theatre ensemble, comprising up to 20 persons, for a tour in China in 1999. | | 2.中华人民共和国将于1999年邀请克罗地亚木偶团20人访问中国。 |

|
| Article 9 The Republic of Croatia shall invite a Chinese children's ensemble to take part in the - ibenik International Children's Festival. Time of the visit and number of persons shall be determined by a subsequent agreement. | | 第九条 克罗地亚共和国将邀请一个中国少儿艺术团参加什贝尼克国际儿童艺术节。访问时间和人数将另行商定。 |

| Article 11 The Contracting Parties shall support in their respective countries in the course of the year 1999 a presentation of film achievements of the other country by organizing a week of feature films and a week of cartoon films. | | 第十一条 1999年双方将举办电影周和动画片周,以介绍对方国家的影片。 |

| Article 12 The Republic of Croatia expresses a desire to present the exhibition "Five Centuries of Croatian Encyclopaedia" in the People's Republic of China to be organized by the Lexicographic Institute "Miroslav Krle-a" in Zagreb. The details on the organization of the exhibition shall be subsequently agreed through diplomatic channels. | | 第十二条 克罗地亚共和国希望在华举办萨格勒布“米罗斯拉夫·克尔莱扎”辞书出版社组织的“克罗地亚百科全书500周年”展览。由双方通过外交途径具体商定。 |

| Article 15 The Contracting Parties shall encourage and support publishing of a Chinese-Croatian and Croatian-Chinese Dictionary as well as of other publications, and in view of that exchange a three-member delegation for a tour of ten days. | | 第十五条 双方将鼓励和支持出版汉克词典和克汉词典以及其它出版物,并为此互派3人的出版代表团,为期10天以内。 |

Article 18 The Republic of Croatia proposes further continuation of co-operation between the International Permanent Exhibition of Publications (ISIP) IN Zagreb and relevant Chinese publishing houses.
