From May 15, 2019, the People's Bank of China (PBC) decided to lower reserve requirement ratios for rural commercial banks operating in counties in three steps. The third adjustment of reserve requirement ratio, which is scheduled today, is expected to release long-term funds of about RMB100 billion. Meanwhile, in order to offset the impact of tax period and other factors, and to maintain reasonably adequate liquidity in the banking system, the PBC renews the Medium-term Lending Facility(MLF) operations in the amount of RMB188.5 billion on July 15, 2019, which becomes due on the same day, and conducts additional MLF operations totaling RMB200 billion for small and medium-sized banks. Reverse repo operations will not be conducted today.
