| For the purposes of protecting and regulating the participation of people's assessors in trial activities in accordance with the law, this Interpretation is developed in accordance with the provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on People's Assessors and other laws and in light of the trial practice. | | 为依法保障和规范人民陪审员参加审判活动，根据《中华人民共和国人民陪审员法》等法律的规定，结合审判实际，制定本解释。 |
| Article 1 Where the people's court decides that people's assessors and judges shall form a collegial panel to conduct trial according to the provisions of Articles 15 and 16 of the Law on People's Assessors, after members of the collegial panel are determined, the parties shall be informed in a timely manner. | | 第一条 根据人民陪审员法第十五条、第十六条的规定，人民法院决定由人民陪审员和法官组成合议庭审判的，合议庭成员确定后，应当及时告知当事人。 |
Article 2 For cases subject to general procedures at first instance other than those prescribed in Articles 15 and 16 of the Law on People's Assessors, the people's court shall inform the defendant of a criminal case, the plaintiff and defendant of a civil case or the plaintiff of an administrative case that he or she has the right to apply for the people's assessor's participation in the trial of a case by the collegial panel within five days after receiving the notice.
