| 2. During the visit, President Desiré Bouterse held talks with President Xi Jinping and met with Premier Li Keqiang. | 4. The two heads of state agreed that the time-honored tradition of friendship between China and Suriname is a precious asset to the two peoples. | 5. The two sides agreed that all countries are equal regardless of their size, strength or wealth. The two sides reaffirmed their respect for each other's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, support for the independent choice of development path suited to their national conditions, and mutual understanding and support on issues concerning each other's core interests. | | 六、双方重申尊重彼此国家独立、主权和领土完整，支持各自国家人民自主选择符合本国国情的发展道路，在涉及彼此核心利益问题上相互理解、相互支持。 |
The two sides agreed that adhering to the one-China principle is the shared consensus of the international community and the essential prerequisite and political foundation of the establishment and development of China-Suriname relations. The Surinamese government reiterated that the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. Suriname expressed its support for the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations and the efforts made by the Chinese government to achieve national reunification.
