On September 19, 2018, the Supreme People's Court and three other departments jointly issued the Working Rules for the Online Integrated Handling of Disputes over Road Traffic Accident Damages (for Trial Implementation), effective from October 1, 2018. In a total of 45 articles, the Rules outline general guiding principles, working mechanisms, division of duties, information sharing, business process, and organizational guarantee, among others. Under the Rules, after a dispute occurs, the parties concerned may directly visit the platform for online integrated handling of road traffic accident disputes to use the claim settlement calculator thereon, or directly file an application for mediation or a lawsuit. The mediation organizations may, after receiving the applications from parties concernedd directly or under the guidance of the traffic administrative departments of public security organs, or the people's courts, enter the platform to conduct online mediation.
